ACUTE EXPOSURE INFORMATION

  1. Isopropyl chloroformate is irritating and corrosive to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Exposure can cause delayed acute lung injury similar to that caused by phosgene. Moderate toxicity by the oral route can cause reversible or irreversible damage to tissue. In guinea pigs, direct dropwise application to the skin causes deep necrosis with eschar formation. Permanent corneal opacity has been observed with direct contact to rabbit eyes.
