ACUTE EXPOSURE INFORMATION

  1. 4-Aminodiphenyl is toxic by ingestion, inhalation, and skin absorption. Some references state that 4-aminodiphenyl may induce METHEMOGLOBINEMIA, while others do not mention this effect.
  1. 4-Aminodiphenyl exposure is associated with a high incidence of bladder cancer in humans. In experimental animals, it has produced bladder and liver tumors.
    1. 4-Aminodiphenyl appears to be one of the most potent of the known bladder carcinogens.
  1. 4-Aminodiphenyl is no longer produced on a commercial scale. Because of demonstrated carcinogenicity in experimental animals and humans, contact by all routes should be avoided.
