ACUTE EXPOSURE INFORMATION
- Phenylhydrazine hydrochloride can be irritating to the eyes, skin, nose, mucous membranes, throat, and respiratory tract. It is a hemolytic agent and a methemoglobin inducer. Nausea, vomiting, anorexia, hypoglycemia, CNS stimulation, and coma can occur with acute exposure. Liver and kidney damage can also occur. Phenylhydrazine hydrochloride is an experimental animal carcinogen, and phenylhydrazine is a suspected human carcinogen.
- The hydrochloride would be expected to produce milder local effects, but similar systemic effects as the free base.
