ACUTE EXPOSURE INFORMATION

  1. Cobalt carbonyl is an irritant of eyes, skin, and mucous membranes. Severe lung irritation and pulmonary edema have been described with inhalation exposure.
  1. Injuries to the liver, kidney, adrenal glands, and spleen occurred in experimental animals.
  1. Irritation or burns of the esophagus or GI tract could develop following ingestion.
  1. Cobalt carbonyl can release carbon monoxide on thermal decomposition. If carbon monoxide poisoning is suspected, REFER TO CARBON MONOXIDE MANAGEMENT.
