ACUTE EXPOSURE INFORMATION
- Isobutyronitrile produces its systemic toxicity by metabolically releasing CYANIDE after absorption. It is also a primary irritant of the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract.
- Coma, seizures, retrograde amnesia, dilated pupils, hypoventilation, shock, cyanosis, initial tachycardia and hypertension, and hypotension may be seen.
- Nausea, vomiting, hepatotoxicity, and metabolic acidosis may be noted. Percutaneous absorption occurs.
